Impotence

Although this is more common as men get older young men can suffer from it too.

Impotence can be an early warning  of a serious health condition brewing, like diabetes or heart probelms. It is always important to speak to your doctor

Impotence can be caused by:

  • Heart issues, high blood pressure, high cholesterol
  • Up to 50% of men with diabetes may suffer from impotence
  • Certain medicines for blood pressure, anxiety and depression
  • Neurological conditions (Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis)
  • Hormone problems ( like low testosterone and more)
  • Mood modifying conditions like anxiety and depression
  • Smoking and drinking alcohol
  • After radical pelvic treatment

Lifestyle changes are the first step you need to take - lose weight, start exercising (men who burn 5,000 to 7,000 calories per week have better erections), stop smoking, drink less alcohol, get your sugar levels under control, and make sure you keep your blood pressure under check.

There are various treatment options

There are four main oral drugs: vardenafil (Levitra), sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) and Avanafil (Spedra). All these drugs increase the flow of blood into the penis.

Topical medication (penile injections, MUSE urethral pellets and Vitaros cream)

Vacuum Erection Devices

Rejuvenation thearpy (Shockwave therapy, and Pelvic floor exercises)
